Sidi Rahal is a small town nestled along the shores outside of Casablanca, which translates into "Saint Nomad," or "Wandering Monk."
The city is named after these monk-like figures who brought from their travels the teachings of resourcefulness, simplicity, and respect for the earth. They encouraged people to see beauty in what others deemed broken, turning discarded objects into treasures imbued with new life.
The villagers began to collect shattered glass that was cast away by busy city dwellers in Casablanca, and, inspired by the philosophy from the nomads, they transformed them into beautiful handblown drinking glasses.
Our Sidi Rahal Handblown Recycled Glassware are crafted entirely from recycled glass from a revived small glass factory, after it shut down due to these products being outsourced and mass-produced. Today, the demand for higher quality, handmade items has allowed them to be back up and running, continuing to blow each glass by mouth. They are known for their high-quality and high-spirited glass blowing, making these more durable and a bit more loved.
More than just drinking glasses, these are symbols of resourcefulness and creativity, inspired by a figures who taught this lesson:
