The name Haouz (ⵀⴰⵡⵓⵣ), meaning "fertile land" or "plain" in Tamazight, captures the essence of Morocco's agricultural heartlands. Traditionally, these vibrant designs symbolize the rich and fertile soil of the Haouz region, a flat valley known for its agricultural abundance.
The striking red, black, and white geometric patterns seen in this rug are common creations from the Beni Mguild Berber tribe from the Middle Atlas and Haouz region, famous for their bold designs and earth-toned color palettes.
Age & Condition: This rug is around 30 years old, and it is in good vintage condition. The natural signs of wear and fading (see photos) contribute to the unique, timeworn look of the rug, adding charm and history to the piece. The wool pile is in good condition, and despite some worn down areas in the center, it has retained its character and durability.
