Afawen (ⴰⴼⴰⵡⴻⵏ), meaning "stars" in Tamazight the Berber language, reflects the celestial beauty and artistry woven into this rare flatweave Moroccan kilim rug.
Inspired by the cloudless and star-filled Moroccan night skies, its geometric pattern features a constellation of motifs in pretty hues of blue, purple, pink, green, and white, set against a striking coral-red base.
This runner has an uncommon flatweave technique, more commonly found in Turkish kilims than traditional Moroccan rugs. Boujaad rugs typically feature plush piles, making this a rare find.
At an estimated 20 years old, the rug’s well-preserved condition, with subtle signs of age, adds to its vintage charm and authenticity.
Flatweave runners like Afawen are perfect for high traffic spaces such as hallways. It is best to use carpet tape if used on hardwood flooring. Once secured, they have perfectly flat edges that prevent tripping.
Please note: Sizes are approximate and may vary slightly due to the handmade nature of the rug. Subtle signs of wear and gentle age-related fading give this piece a beautiful patina, which we love to see in interiors.
